Just a short post to let you know about a recent chat I had with those splendid chaps from the Innsmouth Book Club, Rob Poyton and Tim Mendees. Herein, we’re dissecting True Detective Season One.
It’s not only one of the best supernatural shows, but also one of the best TV shows of the past decade, and it’s a great time to revisit it, with the launch of True Detective Night Country, which looks like a promising return to form.
Superlative performances, a compelling story, fantastic visuals, an amazing soundtrack, serial killers, subtle but gripping horror, True Detective has it all and much more, plus the influences of Ligotti, Chambers, police procedurals, Southern Gothic and devil nests of course!
Strap in, it’s a fascinating ramble through an incredible series. Enjoy!
In other news, I’ve launched a newsletter which you can sign up for below. It’ll be an occasional offering, with news, info, special offers, free stories and other goodies, allowing readers to stay in touch with what I’m up to.
It would be great if you’d consider signing up and then you can have me delivered straight to your inbox, which is a lot less rude than it sounds.
